Labuan Island
Labuan is an island located approximately 8km off the coast of the state of Sabah at the mouth of the Brunei Bay. It comprises of one main island and six smaller ones, covering an area of 92 sq. km. It is also centrally located in the middle of the Asia-Pacific region. Labuan’s inhabitants are very cosmopolitan and come from various regions around the world, creating a diverse and stimulating society.
If Wrecks are your “thing”, Labuan is the place to be. The four major wrecks in Brunei Bay off the coast of the Island of Labuan are among the best in South East Asia. For history buffs, two World War II wrecks are available. If you enjoy prolific marine life, the underwater oasis formed by the “Cement Wreck” and the “Blue Water Wreck” are not to be missed.

Labuan is only 8km or twenty minute boat ride from Menumbok, a small fishing town in Sabah. High speed air-conditioned ferries ply daily to Labuan from Sabah, Sarawak and Negara Brunei Darussalam. The trip from Kota Kinabalu, capital of Sabah takes about 3 hours and about an hour from Negara Brunei Darussalam.
